Girls Football Festival 2008

Once again there were a large number of entries for this highly successful festival. On the day all teams played some excellent football in good conditions.

The group stages provided all teams with a number of games before entering into the second phase to decide on the final placing. The group stages proved to be a very close affair with 3 groups decided on goal difference!

Eventually the teams reached their final game of the afternoon and even at this late stage a number of the games still required penalties to split the teams. A close final saw two very strong sides; Stella Maris and Dymchurch competing for the overall prize. Once again a close game required the drama of penalties to separate two strong sides. Despite the best efforts of two excellent Goalkeepers Stella Maris prevailed and claimed the overall victory. A strong Greatstone side won through in their final game to claim 3rd place overall.

Once again a huge thank you to all the teachers, organisers, sports leaders, officials and particularly the players, for another excellent afternoon of competitive action!
