After months and months of preparation the Big Bounce, Guiness Book Of World Record Event took place on Friday 4th July.
Two days previously the inflation of over a 1000 space hoppers started (MANY thanks to Roger De Haan for sponsoring the hoppers). Two electric pumps and a handful of members from the PE department GRADUALLY hour by hour began to fill the school gym with space hoppers at 9pm - 2 days later and over 60 hours of pumping all the hoppers were inflated.
At 10am on the day of the event, all the year 7's from The Harvey lined themselves up in a human chain from the gym, across the playground and into the sports hall... 130 minutes later all the space hoppers made a new hopper mountain in the sports hall, ready for collection and boucing.
From 1pm onwards our schools, delegates, press and tv cameras(!!) started to arrive. As everyone bouncing was signed in and space hoppers were being collected, groups and schools made their way toward the cricket ground (thank you to Folkestone CC and Shepway DC).
1 practice and the real bounce was underway... 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 and the World Record was broken...
