The first festival of the new term took place on Tuesday with the Folkestone School for Girls and Marsh Academy Gladiators Festival, held at Folkestone Sport Centre. Sixty Year 3 and 4 children attended and had brilliant fun trying out a range of new games and activities. Working as Gladiators; teams from Seabrook Primary, Dymchurch Primary, St Martins Primary, Brookland CEP and St Nicholas C of E Primary school all had the chance to try out Speedstacking, Kurling, Reaction Wall, and Dance mats along with our new game ‘Fire Away' together with our favourites ‘Run the Gauntlet' and Tug of War. Our new game ‘Fire Away' proved to be a big favourite with the pupils and their teachers, with 80 balls, giant hands, sligshots and parachutes all involved in one game!!
Overall everyone had a great time and were able to try out activities they may not have had the chance to have a go at before, and enjoy a sporting afternoon with their friends. Several prizes were handed out at the end for both the best performances in each of the events and for those who put in a lot of effort and those who helped others and showed excellent sportsmanship.
A huge thank you must go to Miss Hutley and Mr Double for their hard work in preparing for and delivering the festival. Also a huge thank you must go to all of the Sports Leaders from the two Secondary Schools; without who we couldn't provide these brilliant opportunities.
Look out for more festivals in the calendar, we hope to see you all soon, perhaps at the Folkestone Academy and Pent Valley family Gladiators next week. Also look out for the photos from today's event in the gallery section.
