On Wednesday 7th July schools from the Brockhill Park family took part in an exciting event themed around sports within, or due to enter the Olympics. A year 5 class from Saltwood, St. Augustines, Hythe Bay and Sellindge attended the event, as well as our twin school Poperinge from Belgium who have never experienced this type of event or activity before.
Classes from each school, joined by a small group of Belgium students, experienced five events based around the summer, winter and paralympic games. These sports included Tri Golf, New Age Kurling, Sitting Volleyball, Cross Country Skiing and Orienteering (long distance running). Each of the events were led by experienced Brockhill leaders who rewarded hard working teams demonstrating good teamwork with an Olympic ring. These Olympic rings were collected throughout each event and hung up in a central place to represent the world working as a team. All teams gathered at the end for a final ceremony and were presented with an Olympic trophy to demonstrate their effectiveness of working together.
The event was a huge success and all teams thoroughly enjoyed working on the different activities. The lunch afterwards was a particular highlight of the event! Thank you to all teams who took part. The event will be delivered again next year in Belgium on reflection of its success.
