Sellindge and Brenzett Primary schools recently took part in Challenge Days organised by the Shepway SSP. The Challenge Days incorporate the whole school and are based around 5 activities or ‘challenges’; shuttle run, target throw, speed bounce, balance test and standing long jump.
Brenzett hosted their Challenge Day on 18th and 19th January, which included a training session for the year 6 pupils. The pupils learnt how to lead the activities, time and measure the performances. Each class (including some of the staff!) then took part in the Challenges lead by the year 6 pupils.
Claire Le Rossignol, Project Officer said, ‘The Challenge Days have been well received and the year 6 pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of leading the activities and have grown with confidence during the day.’
The 11 participating schools have also received equipment to run the activities in the future so the children can develop their skills and try to improve on their previous performances.
