Shepway SSP were nominated for an award at the national School Sports Partnership Conference this week. The Gladiators festivals which have formed an integral part of the partnerships calendar for over 2 years now, featured as one of the 'short listed' projects under the innovations catagory for 'Doing Sports Differently'.
The Gladiators festivals came about from the callaboration of partnership staff, wanting to create a festival for non participants. A festival that provided an element of competition but more importantly focused on providing a variety of sporting experiences, which were both new and exciting to the participants. Which helped to focus their mind on sport and perhaps also helped to re engage them within a physically active environment.
The festivals have included activities from tug of war, through to run the gauntlet, space hopper style. This year the festival is being re vamped so look out for new and exciting stations.
A huge congratulations to all SSP staff for their hard work in making this project such a success and for gaining national recognition for their achievements.
